We recently traveled to San Miguel on a last minute scouting trip for our wedding. Most places were already booked up but a few days before, we checked back and noticed this amazing property was available. We emailed Bebe and she immediately confirmed, nice and easy! And boy did we score! The pictures are fantastic and do it justice (at dusk). You want to spend at least one sunset in the room, it's amazing. What the pictures can't articulate is that the room is HUGE. Lots of room, everything you need, from jugs of bottled water for brushing teeth, drinking, etc. Bebe and staff are so accomodating, checked in all the time, made sure we were set. And though locals will tell you it's not in the Centro, it's SO EASY to walk down, we did it everyday. If you like to walk (we're from walking city) you'll be more than fine. If you don't like to walk, taxis are very easy and affordable. Never had an issue. Cannot wait to come back soon, this time with our family and rent out all three rooms. If you have a group, seems like a perfect house! Highly recommend. House, location and owners are fantastic. Can't go wrong.

Hi, Bebe! Greetings from the previously frozen but now thawing north. It was hard to return to Chicago after seven weeks in San Miguel. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there, in no small part because of your wonderful Casita Topaz. We would be hard-pressed to list everything we liked about it, but to name a few: the tasteful Moroccan décor, comfortable furniture, fabulous bed, gas fireplace that warmed the entire place, everything we needed being supplied (water, great knives, phone, Wi-Fi), etc., etc. All the Casa Gemas neighbors who visited us agreed that we definitely had the best casita! We have only one minor suggestion for improvement--providing bathroom and kitchen wastebasket with a covers. If you ever have the time while passing through Chicago, we’d love to meet you for dinner or at the very least drinks.

My husband and I have just returned from one of the most relaxing vacations we have had in years. The town and the Jewels of San Miguel were lovely. We stayed in Topaz. To wake up every morning and go to bed looking out onto a knock out view of the town was more than we could ask for. We found Topaz spacious, the bed was comfy, I could practice yoga without moving any furniture while my husband could read or write on the terrace or the reading area inside. As Texans were excited to have evenings cool enough to use the fireplace in August. The owners very helpful and responsive before, during and after the trip. Thanks for a lovely 8 days, we would rent this place again in a heart beat. pat and chris

Our time in the beautiful Casita Topaz was magical!! Elizabeth made it possible for us to feel at home in the most beautiful surroundings. It would be impossible to put into words the magic and peace we felt during our stay. We shall always treasure our time there and yes, we will return again and again to the magic of San Miguel De Allende and to the peace we found in Casita Topaz. So much creativity took place during our time there for we were inspired to paint, draw, write and both Jody and I are ever so grateful we found this wonderful home away from home. Thank you Bebe!!

I had decided very impromptu to rent a place in San Miguel de Allende to finish a book I am writing. I looked at all the places on Airbnb, but as soon as I saw the pictures of Casita Topaz I immediately loved it's beautiful design, felt strongly drawn to it, and knew it was the perfect place for me.Elizabeth was wonderful in every way, right from her 1st email to me...kind & genuine, helpful with advice about the best way to get there, and even sent me emails with information of fun & interesting things to do while I was there. When I arrived, it was even more beautiful in person than in the pictures. They truly don't do it justice! I took many myself and they never captured just how unique, special and beautiful it is. From the moment you enter the main door on the street, you step into a different world... lush with plants & flowers everywhere, Moroccan style lanterns hanging from a huge tree, beautiful tiled steps leading down to a courtyard with a small bubbling fountain, and then more leading up to a beautiful loggia which overlooks the whole town. It truly is magical! And just as the name implies, Topaz is a true gem. It is cozy, warm and inviting, with every single detail adding to it's splendor... from the beautiful carved arches & fireplace, to the vintage Moroccan rugs and lights throughout, the unique artwork, furniture, and decorative pieces, and the comfy bed and huge arched windows leading to the private terrace. Even the bathroom was great, with vintage brass fixtures, Moroccan style tiles and lights, and supplied with plush towels and bathrobes! :) It is truly the perfect place for a romantic getaway, or for the creative, artistic person wanting to escape from the distractions of their everyday life for awhile, and be in a place that is beautiful, nurturing, and inspiring. I can't recommend it enough! From the very beginning, Elizabeth did everything to ensure I had a comfortable and wonderful stay. And near the end, she came down for a few days to take care of a few things, and bring some more beautiful pieces she had found for Topaz and the other Casitas. I was so happy we were able to meet in person, and we quickly became friends. I was very sad to leave San Miguel & Casita Topaz, which had become my haven and felt like home from the very beginning. But I know I will return some day, and when I do, I will definitely stay there again.June 2013

Casita Ruby

Perfect. Perfect. Perfect. The apartment is beautifully decorated and has everything you need (comfortable bed and furniture, plenty of linens, cable TV, wet bar and most important: a fantastic view. Communication with Bebe was easy, and although we didn't meet her, her staff were there waiting when we arrived with tips on where to go and what to do. Don't be swayed by the apt's location on the map -- we thought it might be a bit far out with a demanding hike to/from, but its actually very close to centro and great restaurants. We walked everywhere. Also, given the various church bells that ding-dong throughout the day, its much quieter than centro. Looking forward to visiting Casita Ruby and this part of Mexico again.

Casita Ruby looked exactly as it did in photographs. The view from the Casita and especially the terrace was spectacular. It was near Centro, we walked multiple times, but away from the noise of the Centro area. The place was clean, neat and beautiful. We would not hesitate to stay there again.

We loved our stay here! The view couldn't have been better, and was even more magical with the jacaranda tree blooming above our heads. I enjoyed hearing the church bells and concerts from the city below. There was no street noise in the room, which was nice. The room was cute, well cared for, and embodied the colorful and artistic spirit of San Miguel. The coffee bar was sufficient for making some toaster oven tostadas, cutting up fruit, and making coffee for breakfast or a snack. I was happy that the cleaner came three times in the week we were there to refill water and tidy up. I personally enjoyed the hike up to the casita a couple of times a day because it meant that I didn't have to build exercise into our stay, but then again, we are from Colorado and walk up mountains for fun on a regular basis, so take that as you will. I thought the view was totally worth it. I would wholeheartedly recommend this casita!

I would recommend this place in a heartbeat! The location is easy to get to, wonderful shops, restaurants, spas, activities, cooking classes, are just a minute walk from the apartment! The view has to be the best in the city! The balcony is spacious with plenty of seating to sit, relax and enjoy the can't be beat view. The bathroom was by far our favorite part! A HUGE sunken tub and shower with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the city and the valley. We both took turns spending hours in the bathtub just reading and enjoying the view. The housekeeper was incredibly kind and cleaned and refilled our water on a regular basis. The kitchenette was kindly stocked with coffee, tea, water, dishes and a mini-fridge. Also, the hosts are amazing. They sent us ample information before we arrived which really helped make our stay more pleasurable. They even called when we arrived and the day we left to make sure everything was to our liking. Oh, and the internet is very fast which is great because my husband works remotely. Look no further and please stay here!! You will not regret your decision!!

Casita Ruby met all my expectations and more! We travelled throughout Mexico during the month of January and Casita Ruby was by far our favorite abode. Elizabeth/Bebe our host was wonderful and has thought of everything her guest could need. Favorite things... *Fireplace *Terrace with an amazing view *Writing Area with a beautiful view. *Separate sitting area with a swivel TV - so you could watch it from your bed as well. * Accessibility of transportation. Please note that the casita is on a steep hill but there are tons of buses and taxis that pass by all the time. Loved it so much, I will definitely be returning again! P.S. Bebe - on my way back to the USA, I ran into a lady who happened to be the mother of a well known american designer and had been living in SMA for the past 2 months. We compared our casitas while waiting to board the plane.

My husband and I had a fabulous vacation at The Opal. We spent considerable time on the terrace with a beautiful view overlooking San Miguel. Elizabeth Gordan had left every type of information about the specifics of the casita, transportation, and lots of suggestions about entertainment and restaurants. We had talked to her at length when we needed anything or needed some information. She was always immediately available to us and responsive to our needs. We found her to be friendly, knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor.
